Program Details
Our Advanced BJJ class is for experienced practitioners ready to push their limits. Offering both Gi and No Gi options, classes dive into sophisticated strategies, high-level techniques, and situational training designed to refine performance under pressure. Expert coaches place a strong focus on competition readiness, including live drilling, positional sparring, and conditioning for endurance and explosiveness.
Students are encouraged to develop their own style of grappling, with mentorship from instructors who have competition experience at the highest levels. This class is an ideal fit for those seeking to elevate their game and prepare for the demands of Jiu Jitsu tournaments.
Who is this class for?
Great fit if you...
- Are an experienced practitioner looking for a higher-intensity, technique-dense training environment
- Are actively competing or planning to compete in BJJ tournaments
- Want coached instruction alongside your sparring, not just open mat time
- Train in both Gi and No-Gi and want to develop across both formats
- Are looking to build a personal grappling style with mentorship from coaches who have competed at a high level
Consider a different class if...
- You're relatively new to BJJ or still building your foundational movement and technique ( BJJ Fundamentals or All Levels is the better starting point)
- You want unstructured open mat time without a coach-led curriculum (that's what Randori is for)
- You're returning after a long break and need to rebuild before training at an advanced pace
What you can expect
High-Level Technical Instruction
Classes go beyond the basics. Instruction covers sophisticated positional strategies, transitions, and finishing sequences that assume you already understand foundational movement. You're here to refine, not review.
Competition-Focused Training
Advanced BJJ is built around preparing you to perform under pressure. Expect live drilling, positional sparring with specific constraints, and conditioning work aimed at tournament-level demands.
Gi and No-Gi in the Same Program
Classes run in both formats across the weekly schedule. Training in both develops adaptability and a more complete game, whether you compete in one format or both.
Coaching With a Competitive Edge
You'll be coached by instructors who have competed and trained at a high level. Head instructor Solomon Dixon holds a 1st degree black belt under Adem Redzovic, alongside several other black belt BJJ professors and experienced coaches.

Frequently Asked questions
How do I know if I'm ready for Advanced BJJ?
If you've been training consistently and have a solid grasp of foundational positions, escapes, and submissions, you're likely in the right range. If you're unsure, it's great to have that conversation with a coach.
Do I need to be competing to train in Advanced BJJ?
No. Competition is a focus of the class, but you don't have to be registered for a tournament to attend. Many students train at the advanced level to sharpen their game without actively competing.
Is this class Gi, No-Gi, or both?
Both. Advanced BJJ runs Gi and No-Gi sessions across the weekly schedule. Check the class schedule on the site to see which format is running on a given day.
How is Advanced BJJ different from Randori?
Advanced BJJ is a coached class with structured instruction, drilling, and guided sparring. Randori is open mat with no formal instruction. They serve different purposes and many serious practitioners attend both.
Can I drop in for Advanced BJJ if I train at another gym?
Yes, drop-in access is available. Given the level of the class, adequate prior experience is expected. Please fill out our form or give us a call at (850) 368-6861 to drop in.
